Crimson Dancer
Posted by Terces Anatine on October 14, 2010
As many little girls I too twirled through childhood in love with my ballet shoes and proud to show my latest achievements, I even had the wondrous pleasure of sharing the stage with the Royal Ballet of Flanders. That was a long time ago, but still my pointes lay near my heart wrapped up in silk paper and no matter how much my curly girls beg of my they’re not allowed to slip their little feet in my precious slippers. So once in a while I unwrap the worn ribbons, curve my everlasting beautiful arch and smile while a pirouette escapes from my limbs.
A dancer never forgets their passion.
So I went hunting for a beautiful pair of ruby-red pointes and found them, together with a gorgeous tutu I stumbled across on the SL Marketplace. One of the beautiful new Bliss hairs suited perfectly with the outfit and to put a full read cherry on the twirling cupcake I added a gorgeous red lipstick to it.
Take a look and listen as the music begins and come float away with me

Terraforming vs. SIM kill
Posted by Terces Anatine on September 13, 2008
Earlier today I was laying the whip on my building buddy and have her shovel around my place terraforming it into … well … let’s see how it turns out before I start bragging about it in advance
Suddenly SL went weird on me (what’s new?) and each time when I selected land it switched back to the whole SIM… so I consequently tortured my mouse a couple of times smacking it on the desk as I saw my whole 65K m² somewhat disappear under water (yes I screamed).
note to animal lovers: mouse in this context is not the fuzzy little thing that puts me screaming on a chair and to which I’m grateful for testing my lipstick in advance, but rather the little optical device that has to endure the same fate as the first referred to mouse
uhm note again:
- the lipstick thing = joke
- I only do lip gloss :p
- the latter mouse doesn’t test it
- just kidding really… don’t send me hate mail

So, where was I going with this? Ah yes… SIM massacre, it’s worth a thread on its own.
Where does it all begin? Inspiration! The Muze But I’m supposed to be her… pretty confusing being your own Muze, but do you need one… do you Überhaupt want one, this little know-all fussy lightweight biatch sitting on your shoulder. Weighing down on your perception making you slave in the name of creation, forgetful of all time related and human surrounding?
I think she’s arrogant The Muze… she whispers the most insane ideas in my ears and then leaves me to do the work with barely no tools. I bought a 2k tool that isn’t all that but in the end doing it by hand seems to be the most effective way.
A well formed SIM is in my opinion 50% of the work if not more, in terms of good look and atmosphere. Ok so I know it all, now do it. To be honest it’s boring, it bores me to death but I can’t move on with the form, I need a box to put my stuff in… and I don’t like square boxes unless it has a curve and a ribbon to it. So I’m too pigheaded and my SIM evolves from flat to crater world and back again.
I need scrunchies to get over this, lots of scrunchies to keep me from pulling my hair out.

The Queen of Alternatives
Posted by Terces Anatine on September 5, 2008
Yes, I must confess: ” I am an alt addict” (guess I have quite a lot of addictions… something to think about really). But sometimes I just like to make a new avi dress her/him up (the ladies are in the majority i must confess again) and … well … that’s actually it. Mostly I like making a new avi cause it feels so fresh and new, like sometimes you want to do in RL. The rebirth of the Phoenix I guess, and yes I know I need mental help :p
But, some avis I actually use mainly for more practical reasons. Since there is a 25 limit on groups but also to organise inventories depending on the topics I want to work on or if I actually don’t want to work at all. A nice example are my building buddy and my art buddy (read big fat alts), to be honest it works perfectly and I always tell people who my main ava is.
I like the way things are nicely divided between the inventories, and also gives me the chance to only deal with e.g. build-related group IM’s when logged in with my building buddy, or I don’t have to click away those blue pop ups that become annoying when you’re not in the mood for yet another art gallery opening.
Alts good or bad?
It all depends on why you use them, if it’s to avoid communication with (certain) people -> is big bad booboo … you should face whoever/whatever and make that clear, don’t be a coward.
Weird people feel the need to do that, cause they end up visiting their old places anyways… just like a horse always runs home.

Blogging
Posted by Terces Anatine on September 1, 2008
Almost daily I think: “I should blog this or that” … and then the moment passes by and fades into the vague realm of RL oblivion and what keeps me busy there.
Does this imply a certain regret to having a RL?
After more than a year in SL I’ve seen so many places, met so many people that it makes my head spin. From my personal field of interest only two things have left their obvious imprint for me to collect data on and share: human interaction & business (oportunities).
But flying around I’ve become more and more touched by something more interesting, more lasting it seems… creativity. So much more valuable than any other imput in this virtual environment, at least at this time but I am convinced that (depending on the evolution) communication and social tendencies will be more and more affected and will be the more interesting topic to discuss.
Anyways, sometimes I feel like an aweful blogger… but then I think: “It’s not about quantity but rather about quality” … who wants to read about new prim shoes everyday anyways!? (did lil’ ol me shoe addict really write that!?).
Ok more to come… promis
When is another deal :p

Google Lively Creators — Live!
Posted by Terces Anatine on August 2, 2008
Live meeting in Lively, Second Life, or on the realtime Web — for an informal conversation with software architects Mark Young and Greg Spencer, key contributors to Google’s new Lively virtual world. If you’ve been curious about how Lively works, want to explore the thinking behind its novel, simple user interface, or want some clues about Lively’s underlying architecture, please show up and ask a question! John Jainschigg, Director of ZiffDavisEnterprise’s Internet and Community Laboratory, will moderate.
I decided to take a seat in between Mark Young and Greg Spencer and enjoy the interesting conversation that was going on. A lot of topics were discussed such as allowing more UGC, navigating, opening up source, what about Mac users and the annoying hassle with google accounts and logging in… but also the future business solutions and possibilities.
Everything depends on the popularity of Lively and how it will evolve in the upcoming months… it was a nice opportunity meeting and speaking, asking our questions to the developers.
All this while also being in SL discussing the bridge between different virtual worlds and the benefits on several issues seen from different points of view. It was an interesting debate even though Lively is still in its early phase there is enough anima to make this a more popular platform and probably force the developers in broadening the interface and its capacities, not even beginning to mention the tools and ‘freedom of creation’.
